I swear it has rained 21 out of the past 18 days since the last post and pictures. Seriously though, it really did rain for a week solid here. The rain was of course the absolute only reason I haven’t been out and about running – and taking pictures – lately. As much as I would like to believe that reasoning, the complete lack of breath I experience while running probably has little to do with me being in awe of the fields and way more to do with me being slightly out of shape.
In actual farm related news, the rain has finally come and gone and the sun is shining again. If you’ve been around plants, farms, or gardens any length of time at all, you know water + sun = growth. And we are thankful for answered prayers for rain that led to that growth. Just a little over two weeks ago, most of the plants were barely tall enough to be seen from the road and now they are blowing in the breeze like leaves on a tree. Just beautiful.
Join me on a breathless tour of the farm. On your end, you will likely be breathless because you are in awe of the beauty you are beholding. For me, well we’ve already discussed my issues.
Isn’t the cabbage looking absolutely radiant these days? By far one of my favorite crops to see on the farm.
If you don’t believe me about the growth, just check out a side by side comparison of the prior eggplant and pepper with how it looks currently.
It looks like those trailers full of stakes were unloaded and we’ve finally got some pole-grown cucumbers staked. Since these suckers are growing like weeds, it won’t be long now till the vines will be ready to be trained.
I would say the squash is doing more than just popping it’s head out of the holes these days. Look at those babies grow!
As the season rolls on, I’ll be sure to keep you posted with more views of the farm. Future posts promise to be breathtaking whether because of the view (for you) or because of the running (for me).
