At Southern Valley, the folks are extremely friendly and love to talk… but you should never, ever, let your birthdate slip. A birthday at Southern Valley means that you’re subject to the age-old tradition of a dunk in the non-operational squash tank. A spurt of summer birthdays has led to the recent splash of several Southern Valley employees.
July’s “victims” include Jon, Chemo, and Tavares. Some employees simply “grin and bear” their turn, while as you can see in the video below, others truly enjoy it. Of course, no one is forced to participate, but here at Southern Valley most people look forward to this birthday tradition – and remember to pack a change of clothes when their birthday rolls around.
This truly exemplifies the way of life here at Southern Valley. We take our work seriously and work hard, but there is always a way to make even the mundane day-to-day tasks fun when you work with folks who have a great sense of humor. I’m very thankful to get to work in an office where people take their jobs seriously while at the same time not taking themselves too seriously. Whether it’s the birthday dunk, a “family” lunch with all employees in the office kitchen, or just a joke shared between co-workers throughout the day, even the most taxing days are peppered with bits of laughter when you work at Southern Valley.
P.S. Fortunately, my birthday is in the fall and after I complete this summer internship with Southern Valley, so don’t be expecting any dunk photos of me!
